I was talking to a friend who was able to completely go from flab to fab and he tells me that, for him, the best fitness plan was a bodybuilding routine. However, he said, he did not use the bodybuilding routine to make himself massively muscular, but to create enough muscle to look good, rev up his metabolism and to sculpt his body in a more symmetric fashion. From what I was able to see, the bodybuilding routine was the best thing he could have ever done and he has even inspired me to join in his bodybuilding routine. I went to the gym a couple of time with him so he could teach me some of his bodybuilding secrets and I thought he was going to make me lift very heavy weights, but it was completely the opposite. However, we did do a high number of repetitions with the smaller weights which, as he says, it's what gives him the very nice toned shape he has acquired. In addition, we also did some cardio and again he surprised me when he made me keep the cardio at a very nice pace and not too fast. He says his bodybuilding routine is all about burning fat and sculpting muscle and slow paced cardio is just what the doctor ordered.
